Workstations in many schools and colleges connect to the internet via a proxy server. VIASINC's Courseware Browser can be configured to connect via these proxies. If your school or college uses a proxy server, follow these directions to configure the Courseware Browser.
VIASINC uses Internet Explorer's proxy settings to determine the address of the proxy server. This is configured in the Internet Options control panel. Follow these steps to set the proxy server in Internet Explorer 6.
1. Click on the Start menu, open the Settings menu, and select Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the icon labeled Internet Options.
3. Click on the tab marked Connections.
4. Click on the button labeled LAN Settings.
5. Check the box labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN. In the boxes below, enter your proxy server's address and port number.

6. Click OK to close this dialog and then click OK again to close Internet Options.
If your proxy server requires authentication, you need to set the user name and password in the Courseware Browser login settings. Follow these steps to configure the Courseware Browser to use proxy authentication.
1.Launch the Courseware Browser.
2.Click the button labeled Advanced from the login dialog.
3. In the boxes provided enter your proxy server's user name and password. To save these settings check the box labeled Remember these settings.

4. Click OK to close the dialog. You may now log in to VIASINC.
