Overview
This course provides guidance on the effective planning and delivery of coaching “on the job”. The practical and interactive format enables individuals to enhance their coaching ability through practice and feedback developing skills and building confidence to ensure the success of coaching in the workplace.

• Understand the coaching process and how to administer it within the working environment.
• Use coaching to bring out the best in others.
• Recognise the obstacles to successful coaching.
• Prepare and structure a coaching session that will benefit all parties.
• Improve your ability to give feedback to encourage individuals to accept coaching.
• Confidently identify coaching and development needs and implement appropriate solutions.
• Measure the effectiveness and impact of your coaching.

Content
“On the job” coaching
Explore the concepts of coaching others.
Identify situations where coaching is appropriate.
Discover different approaches to workplace coaching.

Structured coaching 
Identify needs: the coaching plan – what you have to include.
Define expectations.
Enhance your plan for future sessions.

Adapting your coaching style - communication skills
Learn to assess different styles - how to adapt accurately and effectively.
Build rapport, trust and confidence to enhance effectiveness of coaching.
Maintain commitment through difficult periods.
Communicate different ideas and approaches to tasks.

Delivering feedback
Effective feedback techniques. 
Constructive and objective feedback.

Coaching difficult people in difficult situations
Handle conflict.
Overcome objections and obstacles.
Overcome negative attitudes.

Spontaneous coaching
Where, when and how to coach.
Identify the preferred learning style of the individual.
How people learn.
Different approaches to workplace training.
Prepare and structure the session.
Monitor the success of your coaching - evaluate the impact on actual performance.

Duration:  2 day  (2 days do not have to be taken consecutively) 
Suggested maximum number of participants: 10

Who should attend?
Individuals given responsibility for coaching and developing others “on the job”. The course is not written specifically for managers, but for anyone given the opportunity to help others by coaching while working.
