Overview Introduces the newly appointed supervisor to the fundamentals of people management, monitoring performance, giving and receiving feedback. The principles as well as practical elements of this course will provide a thorough grounding in order for you to feel more confident and assertive in the role.
Objectives • Recognise and avoid the common errors made by new managers. • Maintain a motivated team. • Deal with difficult situations confidently. • Communicate effectively and assertively with team members and your manager. • Prioritise time effectively to complete your tasks and to help your team achieve.
Content What quantifies a successful supervisor Identify qualities and competencies. Investigate the responsibilities of your role.
The general principles of management Focus on your skills as a manager of others. Organise your own skills and style of management.
Effective time management Plan and schedule your activities and those of the team. Manage time under pressure. Effective delegation to motivate and improve performance.
Managing a team Develop the skills of your team. Set SMART objectives. Keep the team up to date and informed.
Problem solving Encourage others to use initiative and participate in problem solving. Dealing with difficult situations. Deliver and accept feedback. Communicate confidently.
Duration: 2 day (2 days do not have to been consecutively) Suggested maximum number of participants: 10
