Overview The ability to communicate effectively is essential for any manager. Excellent communication skills ensure objectives are understood, provide a clear focus and increase the effectiveness of you and your team. This course focuses on the development of management communication skills for many different situations. Objectives • Understand the impact of your communication on others. • Appreciate how your verbal and non-verbal communication can change situations. • Communicate in a motivating and credible way. • Build relationships with colleagues to achieve results. • Achieve the balance in managing the team, the individual and the task.
Content What makes communication effective What are the barriers to effective communication. Recognising the results due to poor communication. Explore different communication styles.
Non-verbal and verbal communication Body language and voice. Read non-verbal communication and know their impact. Use language with a positive impact.
Open communication Communicate assertively. Develop discussion and negotiation to achieve win-win situations. Appear open make others feel at ease. Recognise and appreciate others.
Conducting team meetings Communicate the purpose of the meeting. Hold the meeting successfully achieving desired results. Encourage contribution - involve people. Being clear on conclusions and follow up.
Using communication to secure a successful team Develop individuals and satisfy their motivational needs. Develop and maintain high team spirit and a real sense of purpose and achievement.
