Overview
This practical course provides guidance, skills and techniques essential to conducting successful selection interviews. Producing an interview format will be included, as well as activities and exercises that help to project a professional and confident image.

Objectives
• Plan, prepare and conduct a selection interview.
• Improve your existing interview techniques and contribute to the process with increased confidence.
• Project a professional image during the interview to put the candidate at ease. 
• Specify the requirements of the job vacancy; give details on the company and expectations.
• Understand how to assess a candidate and make effective decisions based on the information gained during the interview.

Content
Getting the process started

Identify your role and responsibilities.
Explore recruitment methods - recruitment agencies, advertising and internal applications.
Screen CVs.

Preparing for the interviews
Use job descriptions and company history / achievements as selling points.
Produce a questioning format.
Style the interview - one-to-one, group, panel - who should attend.
Select an appropriate interview time and venue.
Prepare the interview room.

Conducting the interviews
Establish an approachable environment to encourage the candidate to open up.
Identify barriers of communication.
Build rapport quickly.
Positive body language.
The importance of employment legislation when interviewing. 

Effective listening and questioning
Questioning techniques - open and closed questions.
Develop active listening skills.
Probing questions - seeking clarification of answers.
Record information for future use.

The selection process
Review candidate qualities, attributes and skills against the job description and set criteria.
Select the right candidate.

Duration:  2 day  (2 days do not have to be taken consecutively)
